Their concept is a totally original one: a hybrid of the "cat cafe" model with a boutique gallery, but it's totally free to visit with the cats and no appointment is needed. The idea is to get more casual visitors in to meet the cats to highly socialize them and get them seen by more potential adopters.  Also joining them is Vita Manzoli, co-founder of TippedEars, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization whose purpose is to combat cat overpopulation through humane TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return).

A happy, well behaved, and healthy cat means a happy and healthy family. Also, when cats are loved and well trained, the chances of them ending up in the street or shelter are much lower.

But Pawster Nashville, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 2020, is working to reduce that number.

Pawster Nashville provides a service called Crisis Foster Care: When a pet owner is in crisis, Pawster Nashville places their cat or dog in a foster home, until the owner is back on their feet and ready to be reunited. Can they get the Coronavirus or spread it?  Viruses are usually unique to each species and it is unusual for a virus to jump between species.  It's very unlikely that household pets like dogs or cats will transmit this Coronavirus to people and there is no evidence at this point that dogs or cats will become ill from this disease,” said Dr. Dana Varble, NAVC Chief Veterinary Officer. “There is no cause for alarm, but it is smart to skip the face kisses for now and wash your hands and face regularly after being with pets. When Helen Brown arrived in New York for a month-long business stay, a fellow animal-lover talked her into fostering a shelter cat. Helen visualized a sweet-natured cuddler who blinked and dozed a lot. Episode 28 - Sammy is Caught!

Sammy is a community cat that lived near our studios.  We could not pick her up, but after she felt secure, we could get close and pet her.

We also learned that she was not fixed and ended up fostering 2 litters of kittens.  Sammy is very small and was discovered with a kitten that we fixed and adopted (Charlotte).  We then fostered and adopted her next litter of three.  From that litter we adopted Molly.

We are know how self-sufficient our feline friends are. But, a continuing movement to minimize the use of vaccines has started to meet the reservoir of infectious diseases. All across the nation, news stories about pets make us laugh, make us cry and sometimes make us mad.  This episode of the Cattitude Channel focuses in on several of these stories and how they related to our cats.

Episode 19 - Norwegian Forest Cats and Siberians

Episode 17 - Ocicats and Singapuras

From chance breedings to controversial pedigrees, our next two cat breeds are recent additions to the feline purebred world. As one of the few spotted cat breeds in existence, the Ocicat took the show world by storm with it’s “wild” looks but playful temperament. Hard to believe this attractive breed was developed from a chance breeding of Abyssinians and Siamese! The Singapura cat is named for its supposed hometown of Singapore, but some purebred enthusiasts think it should be named the Texan or Houston Cat. The controversy surrounding this breed of cat has continued to this very day, despite an attempt by the Cat Fancier’s Association to put the debate to rest. One of the smallest cat breeds, the Singapura also is one of the least genetically diverse.

Finally, join us as we discuss ways to help make sure your cat doesn’t decide to “shun” his litterbox!

Episode 16 - Balinese and Other Siamese Descendants

Have you ever imagined a Siamese cat with red points instead of the deep browns and blues? How would those gorgeous blue eyes look framed by tabby markings instead of chocolate points? Well, you don’t have to imagine it…you can see it when you get a glimpse of the Siamese descendant breeds of Oriental cats, Colorpoint Shorthairs, Balinese and Javanese. All of these breeds were strongly influenced by the Siamese. In fact, some breeders claim that if you couldn’t see the cat, you wouldn’t know it wasn’t a Siamese!!

Episode 15 - Turkish Cats

Often considered to be the most elegant of all cats, these two Turkish breeds have been known from antiquity. Remarkably , these two similar breeds are two distinct naturally occurring cats. Originally found throughout Turkey, the Turkish Angora almost went extinct in the late 19th century due to excessive breeding with Persians. Only the efforts of the Turkish government and the Ankara Zoo kept this fascinating breed from disappearing altogether.

Episode 14 - Burmese, Bombays and Tonkinese

The development of a purebred breed of cat can be a spontaneous affair, like the discovery of long-haired kittens from a short-haired mother, or it can be a dedication to developing a particular look and type of cat. The Burmese, Bombay and Tonkinese breeds are all closely related and their proponents have spent years of diligent breeding to perfect the ideal specimen. Imagine the surprise of some breeders when they found out that the “mother of all Burmese cats” was really a Tonkinese!!

All three of these breeds exhibit a fondness for the family, a quiet voice, and well developed sense of tolerance of other animals. From their quiet beginnings in Southeast Asia to the breeders who champion these cats, come learn how these breeds have won the hearts of cat lovers! Episode 13 - These Cats Have The “Blues”

Amazingly, these next three breeds have much in common but come from vastly different environments. The Russian Blue, the Korat, and the Chartreux are three very unique and almost unknown breeds that bear a striking resemblance to each other. These naturally occurring breeds have had little interference from breeders desiring to change their looks or qualities and look almost identical to drawings of the breed from 500 years ago. Few outcrosses are found in any of these breeds. Come learn how these rare cats are winning the hearts of cat lovers!

Episode 12 - Scottish Folds and American Curls… "Ears” to You!

Straight from the folklore of the 17th and 18th centuries, the Scottish Fold breed has captivated cat lovers since the discovery of a “flop-eared” cat in 1961 by a Scottish Farmer.  Scottish Folds have a quaint appearance that many people describe as “owl-like” or even reminiscent of a teddy bear.

The American Curl is a brand new breed of US origin.   Unlike the Scottish Fold whose ears fold down, the American Curl has ears that bend backwards.   Kittens of both breeds are born with straight ears, with the fold or curl appearing within the first few weeks after birth.

Episode 11 - American Wirehairs

You would think that between the Devon Rex, Cornish Rex and Selkirk Rex that cat lovers would have enough hair coat mutations to last them a lifetime…but, here come three more breeds that rely on their unique looks to capture fans!

The American Wirehair is one of only four cat breeds created here in the US. Featuring a hard, springy and, yes, wiry coat is their hallmark. Likewise, the LaPerm shows off their wavy coat, reminiscent of the Rex cats. Finally, we round out our tour of these follicular oddities by discussing the Sphynx. These hairless cats are renown the world over for their one of a kind appearance.

Episode 10 - The Rex Cats

These cats may not be the king of cats, but people often stop to see what all the fuss is about! The Cornish Rex, the Devon Rex and the Selkirk Rex are three recent additions to the world of purebred cats and all share a unique trait of curly hair. But, believe it or not, each of these breeds was developed independently and each of them has their own gene governing the curl in their hair!

They have been called the “pixies of the cat world”, “cats from outer space”, and some have even wondered if there is some monkey in their ancestry. All of the Rex type of cats are a welcome change of pace from the procession of stately long-haired cats or the abundance of short haired cats we see every day. Come learn how these cats came about and what might make them a welcome addition to your home!

Episode 9 - Birmans, Snowshoes and Ragdolls

One thing we have come to appreciate in our cats is their extreme genetic variability, especially when it comes to their physical characteristics. We have seen colors at the points, longhaired cats, and even cats with no tails. This week’s show is no different as we explore the unique physical characteristics that tie the Birman, the Snowshoe and the Ragdoll cat breeds together. You might initially mistake the three for simple offshoots of the Siamese cat, but they are so much more!!

Episode 8 - The “Bobtail” Cats

Most everyone has heard of the Manx cat, or the cat with no tail. Some might call it a “cabbit” because he looks like a cross between a rabbit and a cat, but this old breed actually hails from the British Isles and was an early favorite in the show ring. But did you know that two other cat breeds also have naturally shortened tails? The Japanese Bobtail and the American Bobtail are breeds that are newer to the US and cat fanciers as a whole. Episode 7 - Himalayans

From the moment that cat fanciers saw the impressive Persian and the exotic Siamese, breeders imagined a time when the unique color point pattern of the Siamese could be merged with the impressive and quiet grace of the Persian. The attractive Himalayan is the result of those dreams!

Combining some of the finest qualities from both breeds, the Himalayan is one of the few “man-made” breeds and certainly one of the most popular. Since their recognition by the CFA in the 1960s, more than 500,000 of these adorable cats have been registered in the United States. Come learn how these breed was developed and whether or not this is the type of cat for you!

Episode 6 - Egyptian Maus and Bengals

Have you ever dreamed of snuggling up to one of the “big cats”? Is having a leopard or tiger draped across your lap a fantasy of yours? Well, we know that you shouldn’t keep these big cats as pets, but our next two breeds might just do the trick.

The Egyptian Mau is an ancient breed of cat and was probably one of the breeds so revered by the ancient Egyptians. A naturally spotted cat, the Mau is a rare breed that almost went extinct except for a quirk of fate. The Bengal cat is one of our newer breeds of cats and this breed actually has a bit of wildcat in his background. Descended from domestic cats breeding with Asian Leopard Cats, Bengals are large, powerful cats but are reported to be extreme lovers.
