Neighborhood Cats
This week Michelle Fern welcomes Bryan Kortis, the co-founder and National Programs Director of Neighborhood Cats, a leading advocacy group for feral and stray cats.
The organization operates hands-on programs in New York City, Jersey City, and Maui, Hawaii, which have helped transform these areas from high-kill to cat-friendly communities. They also have national and international programs to promote the practice of trap-neuter-return (TNR), a method for managing outdoor cats through sterilization.

BIO:
My career is dedicated to helping animals and those who care for them. My expertise lies in the management of feral and stray cats on a community-wide scale, using spay/neuter and advanced strategies to reduce their numbers and impacts. I've authored and produced many of the leading educational materials on Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) and frequently present at national conferences. I bring a varied set of skills to my work, including advanced media experience and legal advocacy. Through my current position at Neighborhood Cats, I'm looking to assist communities in their efforts to humanely and effectively manage their cat overpopulation issues and am available for consultation.
