Heroic, Helpful and Caring Cats... Felines Who Make A Difference
There are a little over 200 therapy cats in the United States compared to some 10,000 dogs- yet they work just as many miracles as their canine counterparts. This week Michelle Fern welcomes Anne Beall, PhD, author of Heroic, Helpful, and Caring Cats: Felines who Make a Difference. They talk about just why therapy cats are just as good at making a difference in patients’ lives as their more popular pals, therapy dogs -- if not better! Tune in!
BIO:
Anne has always wondered why superheroes aren't writers. She writes compulsively on a variety of topics in the hopes of someday becoming Super Writer (or just to have a bestseller).
She's written about gender, nonverbal communication, market research, the human-animal bond, fairy tales, and even meditation.
Her recent book: Heroic, Helpful, and Caring Cats: Felines Who Make a Difference is about cats who have changed people's lives. She's trying to combat negative stereotypes about cats as aloof and disconnected.
She is the founder and CEO of Beall Research, Inc., which is a research firm in Chicago.
Beall received her MS, MPhil, and PhD degrees in social psychology from Yale University.
