The Adventures of Pickles
This week Michelle Fern is joined by David Corrigan, author of The Adventures of Pickles book series. The Adventures of Pickles is the story of a domesticated cat that decides to venture out into the great outdoors for a well deserved vacation. This tongue-in-cheek book is very fast paced and told through the lens of the cat, Pickles. A MUST read for all cat lovers and those that find all the nuances of animal behavior interesting and endearing. You will be quickly transported into their world and you may not want to come back. The overarching theme of the trilogy is the plight of the older strays on the street.
BIO:
David is an Actor/Producer/Writer in Los Angeles. He is very passionate about animals and has adopted two fur babies of his own from local shelters in Los Angeles. He is the daddy to a dog and cat. Over the last year, he started investigating the plight of older strays that are in “the system” at shelters nationwide. As people tend to want to adopt kittens instead of older cats, these older strays are often flagged as “to be destroyed” due to their limited chances of success in finding fur-ever homes. Life at a shelter for these animals can often be akin to death row. David started writing the short story trilogy of The Adventures of Pickles as a fun, quirky, and humorous take on life in the animal kingdom for a cat named Pickles but over the course of writing, he started to incorporate the plight of these older stays into his stories to really get the message across in hopes that it may inspire even ONE person to save a life.
The Adventures of Pickles Part I and Part II: Cat Paradiso are currently available in select bookstores in Los Angeles and also on AMAZON.COM in both paperback and kindle versions. He is very excited to bookend his trilogy with Part III: The Breakout due out later this year. What’s next for Pickles you ask? A cartoon maybe? Stay tuned... Go Pickles Go!
