Janice Brown

Janice Brown began Tails Pet Media Group, Inc. in 2000 when she noticed that there was not one source of information on animals in her home city of Chicago.  So, with a passion, determination and commitment to bringing together her strong animal rescue and adoption beliefs with a source of information for the general pet-loving population, she founded Chicagoland Tails, a print publication that continues to be freely distributed to pet lovers and others concerned with animals and their welfare.

Chicagoland Tails debuted with 15,000 magazines. Today, the Tails Pet Media Group, Inc. publishes magazines/e-zines in 16 cities across the United States. It prints just under 250,000 issues per run, 12 times/year, with an audience of over 1.5 million people.

The mother of four children and adopted dogs, Luna and Maple, Janice is very much involved in the day-to-day operations of the magazine as well serving as a board member of numerous organizations that promote animal welfare.  She is the immediate past-president of the Tree House Animal Foundation and was instrumental in bringing together the Chicago-area shelters to form the Chicago Animal Shelter Alliance (CASA).  She is also co-author of DogGone Chicago:  Sniffing Out the Best Places to Take your Best Friend.
