Chris is a 1982 graduate from Ohio Northern University. He has spent the majority of his life living and working in the Heartland. However, a keen interest in exotic locations took him to the Amazon Rainforest where he investigated medicines used by the local shaman. A second expedition allowed him to spend more time learning from an American Physician, Dr. Linnea Smith. Dr. Smith practices medicine in the Amazon River basin.

Chris received so much newspaper coverage on his initial Amazon trip that WNEO-WEAO TV and Northeastern Educational Television of Ohio Inc., decided to tag along to film his second expedition.  Chris can be seen in AMA-ZONE!  The Rain Forest Project.

Chris had worked in both hospital and retail pharmacy before becoming a PCCA member in 1992.  “I attended Primary Training in January 1993.  Immediately, I realized that compounding was my direction in Pharmacy.”

In May of 2000 Chris joined the PCCA staff and moved with his wife Patti and children Christian and Logan to Sugar Land, Texas. Since moving to Texas, their family has grown to include 2 Australian shepherds, 3 exotic parrots and 2 not so ordinary housecats.

Chris V. Simmons currently serves as Vice President of Creative Development at PCCA. He has also held a significant role as a Pharmacy Consultant for Professional Compounding Centers of America. While working in the M.George Webber, PhD. Pharmacy Consulting Department, Chris has developed several specialized Pharmacy Compounding classes in the areas of Veterinary and Natural Hormone Replacement Therapy.

Chris communicates daily with PCCA members in a variety of compounding topics.

Chris has visited the country of Australia several times giving talks to pharmacists and veterinarians. His most recent visit was early in the year of 2011. Chris spent time working with pharmacy members of PCCA’s sister company, Professional Compounding Chemist’s of Australia. Chris is often a speaker in Canada helping provide service, knowledge and support for Canadian compounding pharmacists.

In 2009 Chris visited the country of Nigeria working to help establish compounding in that country to help with the needs of the Nigerian people.

Chris has provided problem solving for Disney Wild Animal Kingdom, Sea World, Smithsonian National Zoological Park, Australia National Zoo, and the Carrumbin Wildlife Sanctuary to name a few.

Chris is a founding board member of Wild4Ever and was recently elected to the board of National Parrot Rescue and Preservation Foundation.
