Audrey Landers

Audrey Landers

She is best known to fans for her memorable role as “Afton Cooper” for eight years on Dallas; her controversial Playboy spread (with her clothes on); and hundreds of television gigs in the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s.  But Audrey Landers has been under the radar in the U.S. over the past few years raising her teenage twin boys; managing/producing her son’s music career; and continuing to be a record-breaking singer/songwriter in Europe.

She has a new clothing business – Landers STAR Collection -- that is animal-friendly/cruelty-free.  She is a vegetarian (as is one of her teenage sons) and she and her family have two dogs rescued from shelters.  She also plans to support the WSPA Animals Matter to Me…. campaign, in some way this year.

Now she is back in the U.S. spotlight, successfully building a fashion business. Keeping it all in the family (her mother Ruth has managed and produced Audrey’s career for over 30 years) and continuing their long-standing business partnership, Audrey and Ruth have co-created Landers STAR Collection.

“This is a dream for Ruth and I. We love all things fashion. Ruth and I have always been very hands-on, designing, side-by-side with world renowned designers and stylists with whom we have worked. We’ve learned the secret to accentuating the positive. We call it glamouflage. It was a natural progression for us to want to share our experience and expertise with women across the globe. If you look good, you feel good… and when you feel good, you look good. Every woman is a star and she deserves to shine,” Landers says.

Landers grew up in front of the camera. As a teen in the 1970s, she starred on daytime television (Secret Storm, Somerset) followed by hundreds of primetime guest roles in the 1980s and 1990s (Love Boat, Fantasy Island, Murder She Wrote, etc.) and her long-run on Dallas. She went on to star in the film A Chorus Line (1985) and on the daytime drama One Life to Live (1990). In 1995 with toddler boys at home, she wrote (47 episodes, 250 original songs) and performed in the children’s series, The Huggabug Club, produced by Ruth, which aired on public television for five years, and continues to run on other stations today.

In 2009 Landers appeared in a recurring role on USA Network’s Burn Notice and in Fox Films remake, Bachelor Party. While working in the U.S., she was breaking records in Europe as a singer and composer. She earned 10 gold singles, four gold albums and two platinum albums. In January 2010, she released another album.

Landers has been married to businessman Donald Berkowitz since 1988 and they have twin teenage boys.  Their family also includes two dogs rescued from shelters.

    About Landers STAR Collection

During Audrey Landers 30 year career in front of the camera -- with Ruth as her manager and producer-- the duo collaborated with the designers in Hollywood, New York, Paris and Milan who were styling Audrey. Over the years they learned the secrets to accentuating one’s assets, and camouflaging when necessary. With that insight and experience, along with their deep love of all things fashion and style, the Landers STAR Collection of women’s clothing was born in 2008, premiering on Home Shopping Europe with great success. Ruth and Audrey appeared on air (speaking several languages) and had a fruitful year abroad adding to Audrey’s already established European stardom through her recording career and Dallas fame. They decided to bring the Landers STAR Collection home to the U.S. consumer, where it is now available at shopnbc.com.  The initial launch featured tops, jackets and pants. In Spring 2010 they will expand to loungewear, handbags, and a selection of fashion jewelry, with plans to introduce their Landers Luscious Skin Care products.
