Dr. Robert Poppenga, a veterinarian and head of the Toxicology Section of the California Animal Health & Food Safety Laboratory System at the University of California, Davis will help answer these question and more.

Dr. Poppenga graduated from the University of Illinois, College of Veterinary Medicine in 1978, and also earned a PhD in Toxicology from Illinois in 1987. He is currently the head of the Toxicology Section of the California Animal Health & Food Safety Laboratory System at the University of California, Davis. Dr. Poppenga’s veterinary research focuses on clinical, wildlife and diagnostic toxicology, as well as diagnostic testing methods for animal intoxications and biomarker development to better define exposure to toxicants. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Veterinary Toxicologists and a recipient of the AVMA Congressional Science Fellowship. Dr. Poppenga has authored dozens of publications on animal intoxication.
