The Humane Society of the United States claims it is,  "The nation’s largest and most effective animal protection organization." Yet there are critics of the HSUS who claim, "The advertising of the Humane Society of the United States is false by implying it runs animal shelters when in fact only 1 percent of the donations the HSUS collects", that HSUS is charged with Federal racketeering and more.
