9/11 Heroes Then and Heroes Now
This episode is a very special tribute show. We will speak with a few whose efforts on 9/11 and after have had a tremendous impact. We share the story of the only dog to die at the Trade Center on 9/11. We will speak with Alice Holmes from New Jersey Task Force One, who along with her live find search and rescue dog was on the scene without hours searching the rubble. We will also speak with John Valvardi from Pa Recovery Dogs. John was the Assistant Incident Commander for the K9 Recovery Task Force at the Fresh Kill Landfill on Staten Island after the events of September 11, 2001. We wrap up the show speaking with noted author Nona Kilgore Bauer, author of Hero dogs of 9/11, which chronicles 77 of the Search and Rescue teams. She has recently updated the book with more than a hundred pages of new information. Thank you to all who served our country so heroically on that tragic day and the long recovery afterwards.
