2001-03 Nutrition Graduate Researcher, UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine, Nutrition Graduate Group
Retrospective research on 75 feline patients that received total parenteral nutrition (TPN) while hospitalized at the UC Davis VMTH over an 85 month period (Sep 94 – May 01).
1999 Research Assistant, National Zoo, Nutrition Research Department
Assisted in the Desert Tortoise Project, an ongoing study since 1991 funded by the Bureau of Land Management and by the Desert Conservation Plan (DCP) of Clark County. Project goals include determining the specific nutrient requirements of the tortoise and to ascertain which food plants meet those requirements. Analytical equipment operated included a microwave digestion system, atomic, ultraviolet-visible and infra spectrophotometers, and a carbon-hydrogen-nitrogen analyzer.
1998-99 Undergraduate Researcher, for undergraduate honors thesis, UC Davis Animal Science Department
Performed an undergraduate honors thesis project evaluating mRNA levels of insulin-like growth factor-I (IGF-I) in muscle and liver tissue from mice fed with alternative meal frequencies.
