    Prior to receiving his doctorate in veterinary medicine, Dr. Rolan Tripp completed a BA in Music (Percussion Performance) with a special focus in rock drumming. His minor was Philosophy with a special focus in ethics and logic. This logical yet philosophical approach blended  with an affinity for performance shows in Dr. Tripp's entertaining, educational and captivating writing and speaking styles.

    Dr. Tripp has served as the California Veterinary Medical Association Chairman of Membership, the California Representative for the American Heartworm Society, and President of the Santa Clara Veterinary Medical Association.

    In addition to private small animal practice, Dr. Tripp created a video program, "VideoVet." Four production awards led to offers from PBS and Cable Health Network to produce video segments about animals. His interest in animal behavior developed after discovering that behavior is the most common concern for pet owners, and the most common cause of euthanasia in pets. Tripp can be seen on the Animal Planet shows, "Petsburgh, USA" and "Good Dog U."

    While developing a special interest in behavior, Dr. Tripp discovered the majority of problems with dogs could be prevented with "puppyhood" socialization. Dr. Tripp has supervised the training of over 4,000 puppies and done extensive consulting on feline behavior.

    He is currently a member of the AVMA, CVMA, SCVMA, Society for Veterinary Medical Ethics, and the American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior. In 1996 he was the featured speaker at the Animal Behavior Seminar in Tokyo, Japan.

    In 1997, he presented a paper at the International Conference on Behavioral Medicine in Birmingham, England, and lectured at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C.  He is an Affiliate Professor of Applied Animal Behavior at both Colorado State University Veterinary School and the University of Wisconsin Veterinary Schools.

    His veterinary practice manual, "Pet Perception Management™" is a guide for veterinarians on how to begin offering behavior services in private practice. Dr. Tripp continues to practice general veterinary medicine, consult with individual pet owners regarding behavior concerns, and write and lecture extensively on his special interest, companion animal behavior. He and his wife, Susan are the former owners of the La Mirada Animal Hospital. They share a passion to transform the veterinary profession and family relationships with pets through behavior education and services.

    Dr. Tripp is founder of the Animal Behavior Network (ABN). ABN helps transform the general veterinary practice into a "Pet Centered Practice" by providing  behavior education and services to support the veterinary practitioner.
