Peter Troast
Peter Troast is a founding executive of FetchDog, the new total resource for dog owners. Each day at FetchDog headquarters in Portland, Maine, Peter is joined by his Jack Russell Terrier, Theo, and a growing cadre of humans, cranking out seasonal catalogs, creating dynamic content for their web site, and generally reinventing what it means to be a dog products company.
In addition to his role with FetchDog, Peter is a principal at the private equity firm Black Point Group, where he spearheads the firm’s investments and incubation of internet and new media businesses.
Prior to Black Point, Peter led brand strategy for the American Skiing Company consortium of ski resorts, leading to the recent acquisition of Killington, Mount Snow, Attitash and Pico at historic multiples for the category. During his tenure at ASC, Peter guided the company’s innovative efforts in social media, community and interactive marketing and was awarded the 2006 “Interactive Marketer of the Year” by the Massachusetts Innovation and Technology Exchange. Previously, he was a Principal at the VIA Group, a leading New England strategic marketing agency, where he led the strategy team and oversaw client engagements in a number of B2C and B2B categories including semiconductors, retail grocery, destination resort, and retail ecommerce. He is a co-founder of Moulded Fibre Technology, a designer and manufacturer of high performance, environmentally sound protective packaging for consumer electronics, leading the company from inception to acquisition/IPO in less than three years. He is also a founder and director of TM Wind Partners, LLC, a developer of wind energy projects.
Peter has had a long-term commitment to land protection, with active involvement and Board roles in a number of non-profits including the Trust for Public Land and the Natural Resources Council of Maine.
He holds a BS from the University of California, Berkeley.
He lives in South Freeport Maine with his wife, Lisa Fahay, children Tucker and McKenna, and Jack Russell Terrier Theo.
