Patrick Kwan

Patrick Kwan

Patrick Kwan is New York state director for The Humane Society of the United States (http://www.humanesociety.org). Kwan has extensive campaigning experience in the animal protection, human rights and environmental movements.

Before joining The HSUS in 2008, Kwan was with a public relations firm where he handled media relations for corporate, government, and nonprofit clients including the City of New York’s animal rescue efforts through the Mayor’s Alliance for NYC’s Animals. For his work with The September 11th Fund and the historic Chinatown NYC neighborhood, he was honored with the public relations industry’s highest honor, the Public Relations Society of America’s Silver Anvil Award.

Previously, he was executive director of the Student Animal Rights Alliance, a field organizer for Amnesty International USA, and a media assistant for the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine. He has also served as a student-area coordinator for Amnesty International USA and youth advisory board member of the Center for Environmental Citizenship (now part of the League of Conservation Voters Education Fund).
