Maryanne Dell
Maryanne Dell
Maryanne Dell is in charge of pet coverage for The Orange County Register, the fourth-largest newspaper in California. She has been writing about pets, with a special interest in dogs, since 1994. She is a Certified Pet Dog Trainer who works with individuals and their dogs to create long-lasting, happy relationships. She competes in agility with her chow mix, Fly, and does pet therapy work with her Tibetan spaniel, Jitterbug. Maryanne is also an evaluator for the Delta Society's Pet Partners program, which registers human-animal teams to visit hospitals, schools and other facilities, and a Canine Good Citizen program evaluator. She also finds homes for lost and abandoned dogs through Shamrock Rescue, an Orange County, Calif.-based group.
When not involved with her dogs, Maryanne is in charge of the features copy desk at the Register and will soon be launching an updated pets page on the Register's web site, ocregister.com, that will give the Orange County pet community a place in which to talk about and show off their pets of all kinds.
She has always been an avid reader and can often be found with her nose in one dog-training book or another, as well as kids' books, which she reviews for "The Pet Place" radio program and will be reviewing for PetLifeRadio, along with other books about pets and animals.
