Jim Flanigan is the American Veterinary Medical Association’s (AVMA) Director of Marketing. In that role he oversees the Association’s promotional, branding and strategic marketing initiatives.

At the AVMA, Jim is also responsible for continuing the Associations long history of producing market and economic research for the veterinary profession. This includes the biennial survey of veterinary salaries that has been repeated every two years since the late 1980s, and an annual survey of new veterinary graduates that is the authoritative source on the rise in educational debt.

Jim serves as the staff representative member of AVMA Strategic Planning Committee.

Prior to joining the AVMA in 2001, Jim spent 13 years in senior marketing, communications, and administrative positions for a number of local, statewide and national non-profit organizations, including Women in Cable & Telecommunications, the State Pharmaceutical Editorial Association, Illinois Pharmacists Association, and Variety Club Children’s Charities.

Jim holds a B.S. from Iowa State University where he majored in Journalism and Mass Communications.
