Frank Steele is a retired public school teacher who for twenty-seven years taught speech, theater, and film history.  He is also a professional actor and has seen the film/TV industry up-close and personal.  Much of the interest of his students was how animals were treated on camera, but more importantly, how they were treated once the cameras stopped rolling. Though the entertainment industry has made giant leaps forward to protect their four-legged co-stars, there is a brutal history here.  These days the AHA (American Humane association) monitors animal action in film, there is often no more than a band-aid effect for the sake of the consumer (the film-goer).  We have to know the history, lest we're doomed to repeat it.  Frank wrote several papers on this topic during his college days, so this has been a life-long effort to make people aware that perhaps that exciting movie stunt involving an animal involved much more--pain, suffering, and often times, death.  His theme is that no living creature should suffer for the sake of entertainment.
