Meet Our New Host Angela - Plus 2 Adoptable Pets: Onyx and April!

Angela Marcus on Pet Life Radio

Meet new host Angela Marcus, Co-Founder of getyourpet.com, as she kicks off her first episode with an introduction about herself, her background and discusses the future of the “Take Me Home” podcast (don’t worry – it’s still all about getting pets adopted!).

In this episode, we meet two pet owners using getyourpet.com to rehome their pets:

Nicole is the guardian of Onyx and is located in Philadelphia, PA. She needs to find a new home for Onyx because of personal family issues that have forced her to move in with her aging parents. While a total sweetheart, Onyx still has puppy-ish energy that can be problematic with elderly human roommates. Onyx is a 3 ½ year old Boxer mix who adores people. Nicole describes him as “very, very loving” and is heartbroken at the prospect of having to find him a new home but knows she must. Thankfully, Nicole is set on finding Onyx the right home and will never take him to a shelter – she said she’ll live in her car first! Onyx’s favorite things to do are to be with his person and be snuggled – Nicole says that he likes to be a “little spoon” when it’s bedtime!

Rachel saved April from a life on the street in Princeton, NJ. As a long-time cat lover, Rachel dedicates her spare time to caring for and managing a feral cat colony at her apartment complex. When April showed up, she trapped him to be neutered and returned to the colony, otherwise referred to as “TNR”. Because of his size, she thought he was a girl, and named him April. She found out when I picked him up from the clinic that he was a boy and when she went to return him back to the colony, it became obvious that he wasn’t truly feral. For 6 months, she provided daily socialization to April and eventually he was able to come inside. Once inside, it became obvious that his past human experience wasn’t a good one. He is terrified of people raising their hands at him and raised voices, especially male ones. In the year that he’s been living with Rachel, he has flourished. Despite his rough beginnings, he truly loves people and wants to be a companion. He is constantly pushing his fear of people aside to seek out love. Now, he needs a new home with a patient adopter who understands his history.
