Our Mission
PAWS/LA is dedicated to preserving the loving bond between people and their companion animals. To that end, we provide services to assist low-income seniors and people disabled by a life-threatening illness keep and care for their pets.
Our History
PAWS/LA was founded in 1989 in response to the companion animal-related crises faced by residents of Los Angeles county who were financially and physically debilitated by HIV/AIDS. Since that time, the agency has expanded its scope to assist low-income seniors and any low-income individual disabled by a life-threatening illness.
PAWS/LA currently serves more than 1,700 disenfranchised animal guardians and their 2,000+ companion animals.
Zoom Room
The Zoom Room, founded by top dog trainer Jaime Van Wye, opened its doors in 2007 to provide urban dogs with a dedicated indoor space to TRAIN, SOCIALIZE and SHOP.
We offer dog training classes both in small groups and private one-on-one sessions using only positive reinforcement dog training, the single most-effective and scientifically-based method for training dogs. Because we know there’s a human on the other end of that leash, we also provide all the comforts of a cool hangout: free direct trade coffee from Intelligentsia, cool tunes, and free WiFi. The Zoom Room is a great place for both you and your dog to socialize. Fundraising events for rescue organizations, birthday parties, Doggy Disco – we’re the perfect place for you and your pup to learn AND play!
We have a full indoor dog agility course for you and your dog to navigate either in our agility classes, weekly Agility League, or anytime you like during Private Gym when you can have the joint to yourself as the ideal, safe and sane alternative to the dog park.
We also stock the latest in eco-friendly solution-oriented training products, including all-natural treats, premium dog food, collars, leashes, the best dog toys on the planet, and a wide range of other great gear for your dog.
