With the holiday season coming, many dogs are given as surprise gifts. With adopting a dog becoming more common, rescue dogs enter homes during the holiday spirit but then are returned to the shelter after the phase is over. Whether this happens over a holiday or not, unfortunately, rescue dogs do go through the revolving door in many cases. Katie Blakely is the CEO of PetFirst Pet Insurance. She has been with the company since it was founded in 2004, serving in a variety of roles including Marketing Director and Vice President of Business Development. She was recently named one of the Most Admired CEOs in Louisville and was a regional finalist for the prestigious Ernst & Young EY Entrepreneurs of the Year award.
Prior to joining PetFirst, Katie worked in the thoroughbred racing industry. She lives in Louisville, Kentucky with her husband Chris, daughters Maddie and Charlotte and terrier-mix, Franklin.
