No Longer Home Alone – Too Much of a Good Thing

Dr. Bernadine Cruz on Pet Life Radio

The human/animal bond has led to tremendous advances in pet care.  There are times when this bond become pathological.  When a pet can’t be with their humans, they can have panic attacks-separation anxiety.

The corona pandemic is an unprecedented situation forcing us to be home 24/7 with our pets.  They are currently loving the attention.  There are no excuses why you can’t go for 4 walks a day.  A third brushing for your cats…no problem.  Extra playtime…my pleasure.  But what happens when we finally are able to get out and about.  I suspect our pets may not adjust well.  And it just isn’t this pandemic…kids heading off to school after a summer break, starting a new job that requires you to be gone for more hours than your old job can also trigger anxiety in your cat or dog.  There are ways to still be close to your pet but insure that they will confidently face your absence when the time comes.
