I Think We’re A Clone Now
Your pet is one of a kind… the best dog, cat, bird, horse, fill-in-the-blank that you’ve ever known. Sadly, you also know that it can't live forever. Or can it? There is no fountain of youth, but it doesn’t mean people haven’t stopped looking for ways to extend life. In 1996 Dolly the Sheep was cloned. If Dolly could be cloned, how about your pet? Will it be the same pet or different? What’s involved? Is this the right decision for you? My guest is Melain Rodriguez, client service manager for ViaGen Pets and Equine, based in Cedar Park, Texas. We’re going to discuss cloning and all that's involved. Tune in!
BIO:
I have been with ViaGen Pet & Equine for 10 years. I began at ViaGen in the lab as a cell culture assistant and have been the client service manager for about 9 years now. I have a bachelor’s degree in Animal Science from the University of Arkansas. I have worked in laboratories at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, the University of Utah, and the University of California at San Diego. I have also worked as a veterinarian assistant in Arkansas and Texas. I have always had a love for animals. I had 2 spunky min pins, Zeus & Zoey, who both just passed away within a few weeks of each other. Both of their cells are cryopreserved at ViaGen Pet. I also have 2 a very sweet Domestic Long Hair cat named Cruz and a beautiful (cloned) Bengal cat named Benji
