Better Health Through Poobiotics
Your dog or cat having tummy troubles? Poobiotics may be the answer. And no that wasn’t a slip of the tongue, I meant poobiotic and not probiotics. With the intestinal tract being the largest immune system in the body, keeping your dog and cats gut healthy is one of the best ways to keep your pet’s body in top shape. Through a process known as fecal transplantation, poop from a healthy pet is given to one with GI malfunction, helping to reestablish a robust and viat intestinal micro biome.
Dr. Holly Ganz is a microbial ecologist and co-founder/CEO of AnimalBiome, a company that is mapping the DNA of the bacteria in our pet’s gut and producer of the little poop pill for pets.
BIO:
Holly H. Ganz, PhD, CEO and founder of AnimalBiome, is a microbiologist, who studied at UC Davis and UC Berkeley and has published more than 20 papers. She left academia to become an entrepreneur when she founded AnimalBiome in the fall of 2016. AnimalBiome uses systems biology to create microbiome-based diagnostics and supplements to help the more than 9 million cats and dogs in the US living with chronic digestive disorders. Her efforts to translate academic research into solutions for pet parents began when she launched KittyBiome, a citizen science project that she started while working at UC Davis in 2015. From the KittyBiome project, she came to appreciate that digestive disorders are common in pets and that there is a pressing need for better solutions.
