My guest, Turid Rutgaas is an internationally known dog trainer who believes that by understanding the unique communication style of dogs our human/dog family will howl with delight.
BIO:
Born in Oslo, Norway, and decided to do something for dogs when I was 5.
Schooling: high school, University exams in psychology, social economy and philosophy.
Courses: as riding instructor in the Norwegian cavalierly, dog training instruction by a major in the military
Started training dogs in 1969, and developed myself through the years by practicing Obedience, search and rescue, avalanche dog work, went to dog shows, all as an amateur.
Worked with horses for 12 years, caring for 17 race horses, doing basic training with them.
Bought my own place and started my own dog school building up and developing my own methods and ways of training in 1984. Have been working professionally with dogs since then.
Did a lot of studies, lots of method developments, writing books, doing more and more behavior training.
Started to educate dog trainers in 1993, and have educated dog trainers in 15 different countries. That is what I still do.
I run no classes anymore, just educations, and running a publishing company, organizing an annual dog symposium in Oslo, Norway.
