2nd Chance For Pets
Amy Shever volunteered for many years at animal shelters in Northern California and witnessed pets tragically euthanized because pet owners died without planning for their continued care. Inspired by these tragic circumstances, Amy established the nonprofit, 2nd Chance 4 Pets, in 2004 and volunteers as the organization’s Director. The all-virtual-volunteer organization provides pet owners, veterinarians, animal welfare groups and senior organizations with free resources to help pet owners plan for the possibility that their pets might outlive them. In this episode, Amy and Isabel discuss the staggering number of pets that are surrendered due to their owners' death. Amy gives practical advice on how to begin planning, how to choose a guardian, and how to get started on a will that will identify such guardians. If you have a pet, this is a must-listen episode.

ABOUT 2nd Chance 4 Pets
2nd Chance 4 pets is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization staffed by volunteers located throughout the United States and beyond. As an advocacy group, we provide education and resources to pet owners, veterinarians and animal care organizations in an effort to reduce the number of companion animals euthanized due to the death or disability of the humans who care for them. Thousands of companion animals are euthanized in U.S. animal shelters each year simply because their human caregivers died or became ill and made no arrangements for the continuous care of their pets. What will happen to your pets if they outlive you?
