Cat Cafe'ing
Elizabeth Gallardo, a longtime rescue volunteer, works with her team and Miami Dade Animal Services to find cats forever homes after they spend some time being socialized around both cats and humans at The Cat's Meow Cafe in Miami. Humans pay a cover fee to enter, can purchase drinks and refreshments, including beer, and play with cats to their heart's content. It's a great concept and a serious undertaking.

Elizabeth shares how Covid-19 impacted their opening plans, how the concept of cat cafés came to be, and even gives us a brief virtual tour of the facility. Elizabeth is a true advocate for the homeless cats in Miami, Florida and Isabel can't wait to visit The Cat's Meow Café the next time she's in her hometown.

Born and raised in Miami, daughter to Cuban and Ecuadorian parents with a background in Audio Engineering and Marketing, Elizabeth Gallardo always had pets growing up and, as an only child, found great comfort in having a cat to snuggle with. In Elizabeth's opinion, cats are the best pets and are too often misunderstood. She hopes to break the stigma that surrounds cats and cat behavior, starting with her local community. Elizabeth hopes to inspire and create groups of individuals who take their love for cats and turn it into advocacy. Miami has over 300,000 homeless cats and it’s up to its residents to make a difference in their lives.
