This week Michelle Fern chats with Jordan Karcher, the founder of Grounds & Hounds Coffee Co. What does coffee have to do with dogs? Grounds & Hounds Coffee Co. will donate 20% of proceeds back to animal rescues around the country to help pups in need.

Our story began when our founder unexpectedly stumbled upon a dog adoption in Santa Monica, CA. He was in no way planning, or prepared to adopt a rescue animal when he left the house that morning, but when a malnourished, brown and white, Dalmatian crawled into his lap, it was clear that fate had a different plan in mind.
Similar stories occur thousands of times each week, yet there is still a drastic shortfall of suitable homes and safe haven shelters for abandoned dogs. As a dog-loving, rescue-advocating company, we emphatically believe that every dog, young and old, deserves to have a full life with a loving family.
The first step to creating an second chance for millions of abandoned dogs is to enhance the ability of privately funded shelters to cope with the burden presented by each new rescue. Rather than relying on donations or fundraisers, we set out to create a constant stream of support, generated through the sale of our artisan roasted organic coffees.
We utilize a portion of sales generated by Grounds & Hounds Coffee Co. are used to fund animal welfare and rescue impact initiatives throughout the country. With nothing more than a passion for helping pups and producing a fine cup of coffee, we have supported over 275 rescue organizations, funded the transfer of over 2000 at-risk pups, and provided over 2 million meals to shelter pups! We love being a part of the animal rescue community and are grateful to fuel the movement one cup and one pup at a time!
