BIO:
Dr. Susan is committed to offering quality veterinary care for all who seek it by increasing access to the veterinary care for all pet owners. Dr. Susan purchased Mission Animal Hospital in 2014 and converted the business organization to a nonprofit. She believes that, as a nonprofit, Mission can be as transparent as possible with our clients and community and a true community resource making the Twin Cities a better place to
live for people and pets.
Before Mission, during her time in private practice, Dr Susan was profoundly impacted by the number of people and families struggling to care for their beloved pets. Dr Susan believes pet owners deserve to be able to take care of their pets and to be presented with options that work for them and their family. Client education and sound medical care should always be offered alongside empathy, patience and respect – all of these are cornerstones to providing a good veterinary experience.
Dr. Susan's specific areas of interest include surgery, wellness and geriatric care. She is a University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine graduate. Dr. Susan highly values continuing education and places a high priority on staying current with new therapies, medications, and procedures. Dr. Susan volunteers with Worldvets, helping with surgical clinics in countries with limited veterinary care. She is also actively involved in the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine admissions process and travel grant selections. She enjoys mentoring veterinary students in all stages of their education.
When she has some spare time, Dr. Susan loves to travel, horseback ride, cook, walk her dogs, maintain her bird feeders, hike in the mountains and binge watch TV. She is a mom to twin boys and pack leader to 4 (sometimes 5) dogs.
