Teaching Kids to Care About Dogs, One Story At A Time
Marla Stahl is an animal lover who composes charming stories for kids, based on dogs and people she knows. Their antics and adventures reveal lessons for children about kindness to animals, while entertaining at the same time. Learning about the real people and dogs behind her stories made me smile, and I think they will for you, too.
BIO:
As a life-long animal lover, author Marla Stahl has always had dogs in her life. In recent years she has raised three little rescue dogs and has two "grand-dogs" to love as well. Her children's books are based on the true antics and personalities of dogs she knows and loves. Ms. Stahl donates a portion of her sales proceeds to animal rescue groups (and sometimes to human-related groups as well.) She has supported rescues in Maryland, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Washington, D.C., Texas, and Puerto Rico, as well as supporting special fundraisers for kids with cancer, seniors, people with disabilities, and flood victims. She visits schools in her area to read her books to the students, and discusses the concepts of kindness to animals, how to safely engage with dogs, and at one school, the creative writing process.
