Muffin Top – A Love Story
Hollywood screenwriter, film director, actress, comedian and best-selling author, Cathryn Michon, joined Tim in this episode to talk about the Netflix launch (August 30th) of her movie Muffin Top – A Love Story. During the interview, Tim asked Cathryn what it was like to write, direct and star in the movie, while not being upstaged by her dog Tucker. Tim also talked with Cathryn about the upcoming DreamWorks movie, A Dog’s Purpose, that her and her husband W. Bruce Cameron wrote based on his best-selling novel. Cathryn Michon is an award-winning comic, actress, improvisor, screenwriter and book author who got her start in the touring company of Chicago's famed The Second City. She has been a writer for Emmy Award winning TV series like China Beach andDesigning Women and is, with her writing partner W. Bruce Cameron, a screenwriter of the upcoming Dreamworks film, A Dog's Purpose, and the Temple Hill/Fox 2000 film The Dogs of Christmas. As a stand-up comic, she has appeared in clubs and in major festivals like The Montreal Comedy Festival and The Toyota Comedy Festival and was a regular guest on NBC's The Today Show.She was the host for three seasons of AMC's cult hit Grrl Genius at the Movies, where she showed some of the greatest chick flicks of all time. She co-wrote, produced and starred in the feature film Cook Off! (which was adapted from her book The Grrl Genius Guide to Life) with Melissa McCarthy (Oscar nominee Bridesmaids) and Wendi McLendon-Covey (Reno 911, Bridesmaids) which won a jury award at the HBO Aspen Comedy Film Festival. She also is Co-Writer/Director of the upcoming film Muffin Top: A Love Story, adapted from her novel The Grrl Genius Guide to Sex (With Other People). She Co-wrote/directed and produced the film, which she stars in with Melissa Peterman (Fargo) Marissa Jaret Winokur (Tony Winner, Hairspray) Haylie Duff (Napoleon Dynamite) David Arquette (Scream) Retta (Parks and Recreation) Maria Bamford (Arrested Development) and many more comedy all-stars.
