Deborah Wolfe welcomes service dog trainer Sharron Cole, and Canine Service Behaviorist Jenn Corcho to the party along with their well behaved mobility, and anxiety service dogs. Listen to this show so you can try the three tests at home with your dogs to see if they could be hospital visitors or working therapy dogs. Jenn explains how pups are selected and trained to help people with a variety of needs; some of these beautiful dogs which look like small golden retrievers, are trained to detect seizures, or diabetic issues and some help people with crutches, wheelchairs, blindness and deafness.
Service Dogs Unleashed is trying to supply more trained dogs for the so many people who need them and are waiting on lists up to 8-10 years long and in some areas service dogs waiting lists are not taking new names. In the wake of many rip off scams that have hit the news, Deborah recommends caution when obtaining a service dog. If the dog is to be shipped to you with no training be suspicious. If you are expected to pay for the dog and the training … be suspicious. I do understand the wait lists and demand make it impossible for many to operate within officially recognized nonprofits (charities) for service dogs ; If your child who needs a service dog to attend school must wait ten years that child will be adult by the time his name pops up on a list. .
Be Careful and investigate thoroughly if you are seeking a service dog from a non-affiliated place.
