Phinney’s is working hard to keep people and their beloved pets together! They help with education, taking pets to the vet, providing care and even short-term fosters in case of hospitalization or other emergency needs. What a meow-velous idea! And they are working with the a-meow-zing Dr. Rachel Geller to help with behavior issues! Phinney’s is doing great work in Massachusetts, and we would love to see this idea go global!

BIO:
Rachel Geller, Ed.D. is a certified Cat Behavior and Retention Specialist through the Humane Society and a certified Humane Education Specialist through the Academy of Prosocial Learning. She is also a certified Pet Chaplain® through the Association of Veterinary Pastoral Education. Rachel consults with many cat shelters and is certified as a Fear Free Shelter specialist. She was on The Cat Connection Board of Directors from 2017 to 2020. Previously, she was on the Board of Directors in the role of vice-president at the Gifford Cat Shelter for 7 years. She is currently a cat behaviorist/consultant for The Cat Connection, Here Today Adopted Tomorrow Animal Sanctuary and Baypath Humane Society, and provides cat behavior help both locally and throughout the country to her clients, including cat owners and shelters.
Morgan Ritz – President of the Board
Morgan joined Phinney’s Friends in 2022. She worked in the mental health field for many years, most recently as residential manager of a group home. A lifelong animal devotee, Morgan wanted to do what she could to help the millions of animals suffering in the world, so she started volunteering with The Cat Connection in 2010, was involved in every aspect of that nonprofit, and served as their president from 2016 to 2021. Currently a dog-walker and cat-sitter, she lives in Watertown with her clowder of failed foster cats and her boyfriend. Morgan believes that all animals (with the possible exception of house centipedes) deserve a chance to have a good life, and is thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Phinney’s to help pets and their people stay together happily ever after!
