Paws Of Hope
Lashonda Geffrard grew up without a pet in her home, but she always had a passion for animals. She blazed her own path in the pet care world, and now owns a Pet Grooming service for dogs and cats, The Paw Shop. Her business also includes a boarding facility.
As she grew to know her clients, Lashonda found so many needs. Particularly during this pandemic time, many people find themselves unable to afford the needs for their pets, like medical care and even basic supplies. She set out to meet this need with Paws of Hope Orlando, a non-profit that provides pet food and supplies as well as vet checks and vaccinations.
We all know it's difficult to start your own business, but Lashonda had an extra hurdle as there are very few black owned businesses in the pet world. In fact, it's estimated that only 2% of veterinarians are black. Because of this, Lashonda set out to create a network she has named The Black Owned Pet Business Network. There she connects others who share her passion for pets in a business that tends to have very little representation of people who look like her!
Rita and Linda were blown away by her love for animals, her talent, and her heart to help others by creating not one, but two non-profit organizations. We love everything Lashonda is doing and appreciate her opening up with us on the subject of diversity. It’s an important conversation, don’t miss it.

The Paw Shop has been family owned by Lashonda and Josue Geffrard since 2015, TPS mission is to provide quality salon products and services that pets and their owners will love. Our salon staff and stylist are experienced professionals who are passionate about making pets look and feel their best. We love what we do, and it shows!
Unlike some grooming shops where all work is done behind closed doors, our stylist work in an open, clean and friend salon. Anyone can drop off and watch them work their magic. The Paw Shop proudly supports our local community through our charity Paws of Hope. Established in 2017, we serve individuals and families by providing free resources to families during times of hardship. With the support of community partners we provide pet food, medical care, and supplies to deserving families in need year round.
